Our Freezer Bag Cozies

Keep food warm while it rehydrates using one of our insulated pouches. Cozies were designed to be used in conjunction with freezer bags. Simply put a quart freezer bag with your meal of choice inside the cozy. Add your water to the bag and stir well. Then seal the bag tightly and close the cozy. Lean the cozy so it is upright and let it sit to rehydrate. The cozy is ultra-light, packable, and crushable in your pack. They will deliver hot meals even in the coldest months.

The cozies work for quart and pint freezer bags as well as smaller commercial freeze dried meals such as PackitGourmet, Mountain House Pro-Paks and Mary Janes meals. These cozies hold quite a bit!

If your cozy is in need of cleaning, hand wash and air dry. Use an iron on low steam setting to remove wrinkles. Constructed of washable and breathable fabric, it retains both heat and cold, depending on what you have in the cozy. The outer fabric is 100% cotton and the liner fabric is a Washington State, USA made poly/Mylar needle punched insulating fabric.

Cozies are about 8″ square. Weight is on average is 1.1 to 1.4 ounces, depending on outer fabrics weight/thickness. Dimensions and weight are approximate, as these are hand crafted items, sewn one at a time. When you buy a cozy, you are supporting a small, made in the USA, cottage industry business. So, thank you!

We use a flat rate shipping fee for all orders within the US using USPS. Buy as many items as you want and get them shipped to you for only $6.50! Shipping to Canada is available for $17.00 without tracking.

Want to eat out of your pot instead?

Tired of your coffee, cocoa or soup getting cold before you finish it all, especially during winter adventures?

Using our new tall or short backpacking pot cozies will keep in the warmth! This video overviews the design and function of the tall pot cozy. The short pot cozy is about 4.5” diameter and 4” tall without a lid. We have two versions of the tall pot cozy, a 4.5” diameter and a 5.5” diameter. The tall pot cozies are 5 inches taller to provide extra warmth during winter cooking and a storage area for an extra fuel canister while packed.

Just fold the extra cotton top portion down, tuck in any handles and secure cotton flaps together with the velcro, making a second layer around your pot, to easily drink or eat out of your pot. Velcro between the handles can used to secure the tall pot cozy around pot if handle use is desired.

Both 4.5” diameter pot cozies are made to fit pots like Snow Peak’s Trek 700 or TOAKS 750ml pot. All are made of cotton outer and reflective needle punched insulated lining. Due to differences in material, weight for the small pot cozy is about 0.7 ounces, and the 4.5” tall pot cozy is 1.3 ounces. Color may differ due to different dye lots. Tall cozy only available in black. Small pot cozy available in black or in a mystery color print that we select upon fulfilling your order.

(My pot) fits it well, with a little extra room to tuck in a lighter, spoon and collapsible cup. - (Regarding the tall pot cozy)

The extra room on top is great for storage. I can carry a full camp kitchen inside my cozy :) - (Regarding the new tall pot cozy)

Can’t I Just Use My Hat?

The disadvantages of using your hat as a cozy are:

1) You can’t wear it and use it as a cozy at the same time.

2) Food splatters and food smells. Do you really want to chance mice, or something larger, trying to nibble on your hat with your head in it?  I tend to cook away from my sleeping area for this reason and am careful not to wipe my hands on my clothes when preparing food. The likelihood of me using a piece of clothing as a freezer bag holder is nil.

3) Hats aren’t reflective, unless it’s like the tinfoil one your neighbor wears.  The reflective Mylar in the cozy is made to reflect heat or cool to best work with your food temperature.
